Wander through the winding alleys of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll explore centuries-old architecture, bustling markets, and the moving Anglican Cathedral built on the site of the old slave market.

Continue to the atmospheric Mbweni Ruins, once was home to a mission settlement established in 19th-century as missionary settlement and girls’ school by the Universities’ Mission to Central Africa. It included a church, hospital, and a school built to house and educate freed slave girls, offering them shelter, skills, and a new life. Today, its stone remains and quiet gardens stand quietly amidst tropical gardens by the sea as a reminder of Zanzibar’s missionary history and the island’s role in the abolition era.

The journey ends at Mangapwani, where the Slave Cave and Coral Cave reveal the island’s deeper history of the slave trade and cultural heritage. . Zanzibar Slave Route & Heritage is a sobering and educational experience that aims to help you understand the impact of slavery on Zanzibar's culture and society .But also corrections to human behaviour which left many scars of sites to warn us never allow such horrific acts to be repeated again in human life.
